A drama therapy group for adults 18+ to reconnect with their authentic selves through mask making

Underneath my mask: Reconnecting with Self is a one-shot drama therapy workshop for adults 18+. This workshop aims to (re)discover personal identity and reconnect with your authentic self through mask making, character creation, and movement. Absolutely no prior theatre experience needed!

Adulting is hard, draining, and most times filled with tedious daily life tasks. It can be easy to lose ourselves in the mundane and be overwhelmed by the societal demands. What if we could reconnect with our authentic selves, one that isn’t limited or bound by everyday reality, society, and oppressive systems? Through mask making, you can bring the parts of yourself often suppressed back to the surface to be seen and heard by you and by others. Perhaps you can unlock parts of yourself that may be hidden, reconnect with parts that feel more distant, or explore new parts that feel right. The power truly lies within sharing your mask with others who will celebrate your authentic self. Express yourself, be seen, and be appreciated for who you are!

This workshop is a confidential, non-judgmental, therapeutic and authentic space to further explore your self-identity, engage in meaningful play, and build social belonging.

Theme: Identity exploration - reconnecting with the authentic self through mask work

What to expect

The structure of this workshop includes a check-in, warm-up, main drama therapeutic exercise, group discussion, and closing ritual. Through the use of artistic and symbolic expression, mask and character creation, and play, you can express your internal world as much or as little as you wish. Engage in creative self-reflection, explore your identity, and reconnect with your authentic self.
